Tourism is a fundamental driver of the global economy, generating nearly 10% of global GDP and one in every ten jobs. However, it also faces significant challenges: the sector contributes between 8% and 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions and is, at the same time, one of the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Increasingly frequent extreme weather events threaten the sustainability and viability of numerous destinations. In this context, a guide was developed to objectively analyze the climate challenges affecting tourism and to offer practical references for both mitigation and adaptation. The publication brings together international best practices, experiences from Brazil, and high-potential startups, with the aim of supporting public and private sector managers in implementing sustainable policies and solutions. Its ultimate goal is to strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of the tourism sector, contributing to the development of a more sustainable and future-ready industry.
