This Annual Report details the activities of the Japanese Trusts Funds for 2008. The Japanese Trust Funds support five distinct programs: the Japan Special Fund (JSF); the Japanese Trust Fund for Consultancy Services (JCF); the Japan Poverty Reduction Program (JPO); the IDB/Japan Program; and the Japan-IDB Scholarship Program. Since their establishment, the Japanese Trust Funds have been recognized, and also appreciated, in the IDB for their relevance to the Bank's core activities. In regards to technical cooperation in 2008, the IDB carved out a new strategic direction for technical cooperation that complements its realignment by strengthening country focus and technical quality to better serve the development needs of the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region. The new Framework for Technical Cooperation and the new Bank Policy on Technical Cooperation was approved in April 2008 has already yielded impressive results, as outlined in this report.
