The objective of this study is to assess the potential for electrical interconnection of power systems in the Arco Norte region of South America, which consists of the countries of Guyana, Suriname, Brazil (with its northern states of Amapá and Roraima) and French Guiana (an overseas department of France). This report (Component I - Baseline Study) summarizes the first part of the Arco Norte study; it describes and evaluates options for electricity interconnection in the Arco Norte region considering the economic, technical, institutional and regulatory, and socio-environmental perspectives.
