Social Development: November, 1999

The Sustainable Development Department's Social Development Division (SDS/SOC) assists the IDB by providing technical support to operations and by helping to identify and promote new opportunities for Bank action in social development that will accelerate growth and improve the well-being of people in Latin America and the Caribbean. This newsletter seeks to inform those interested in social questions about their work and to foster a dialogue on these issues. This issue of Social Development contains articles that cover a broad array of social concerns, from the prevention and treatment of violence, to new opportunities for health planning, to education reform in Honduras.
