Public-Private Partnerships in Airports in Latin America and the Caribbean: Main Figures and Trends in the Sector

Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) have been an essential tool in airport development in Latin America and the Caribbean, with regards to investment volume, number of airports developed by or operating under this scheme, and passengers transported in PPP
airports of the region. Countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) make up the region where the largest number of PPP projects in the world has been developed from 1990 until today. This document creates a profile of airport PPPs in the region, with a focus to identify the main trends regarding public-private partnerships in the sector. In order to develop the profile of airport PPPs in the region, data were collected and consolidated from government bodies in charge of PPP transactions, regulation or management of airport infrastructure, as well as those of private operators.
