This study, which is in Dutch, surveys governance issues in Suriname. It looks at the Constitution, the National Assembly, the executive branch of government (particularly the civil service and budgetary management), the justice sector, local government, civil society and corruption. The study concludes that deficiencies in governance have adversely affected Suriname's economic and social development and that the quality of governance in many areas will have to improve if better development outcomes are to be achieved.
