| dc.description.abstract | The financial system of Jamaica has undergone several structural changes in the last decades, moving from a heavy foreign participation to nationalization, and from nationalization to privatization. This document discusses the problems faced by financial institutions and insurance companies in Jamaica and the actions taken by the government to deal with the situation of the financial system. It also evaluates some institutional characteristics of the Jamaican economy, the financial safety network, and the risk management system. |
