For the first time, the IDB Cultural Center participated in Artomatic, a mega exhibit that opened to the public on November 12, 2004 at 800 3rd Street, NE (3rd and H Streets, NE), in Washington, D.C. The IDB Cultural Center selected and sponsored nine artists from Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Uruguay. Many of them have already been shown in Washington, DC in different venues, such as the Organization of American States, the Uruguay Cultural Foundation for the Arts, the Consulate of Colombia and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Félix Angel, General Coordinator and Curator of the IDB Cultural Center, said: The idea of inviting the IDB Cultural Center to have a presence in Artomatic 2004 responds to the desire of the organizers to create an opportunity for artists who do not live in the city to show their work, and to join in this celebration with the same spirit of informality that characterizes the event.
