E Caribbean Connect convened government leaders, technical experts from seven Caribbean countries, and regional partners including PAHO/WHO and IDB to advance regional collaboration on digital health. The meeting focused on strengthening national readiness for health information exchange through improved interoperability, governance, and enabling policy and legal frameworks for the safe and effective use of health data. Over two days, participants reached alignment on a shared regional direction for the ONE Caribbean Connect Digital Health Solutions Technical Cooperation, prioritizing the development and adoption of interoperability standards, stronger governance structures, and clear legal and policy environments. Countries collectively assessed their current readiness and identified key gaps in standards implementation, data-sharing arrangements, and regulatory frameworks. A set of common milestones and priority outcomes was consolidated to guide a regional roadmap. Participants also identified critical support needs, including policy and legislative templates, implementation guidance, capacity-building, and technical assistance. A strong commitment emerged to continue national-level implementation while strengthening regional peer learning and coordination through the exchange of best practices and harmonized approaches. The meeting concluded with agreement to finalize a regional roadmap and translate it into a three-year implementation plan, supported by coordinated action with regional partners to ensure alignment, efficiency, and sustained impact.
