| dc.description.abstract | Migrant return has become increasingly important in Hondurass migration dynamics, presenting both challenges and opportunities for the countrys development. This report analyzes the return processes of Honduran nationals between 2016 and 2024, using as its primary source of information the Comprehensive System for the Assistance of Returned Migrants (SIAMIR), administered by the Social Development Observatory (ODS). Drawing on more than 345,000 records, the study provides a descriptive characterization of the adult returnee population, with a focus on their sociodemographic, educational, and labor market profiles, as well as their migration and return patterns. In addition to documenting recent return migration trends, the report highlights the strategic role of SIAMIR as a tool for policy design and public-sector management. It emphasizes the importance of strengthening and expanding the system to incorporate voluntary return modalities and to enable longitudinal tracking of reintegration trajectories, thereby providing a stronger foundation for more inclusive and effective policies. The report seeks to contribute to a better understanding of return migration and to support the design of interventions that promote successful reintegration and sustainable development in Honduras. |
