dc.description.abstractBelizes tourism-dependent economy was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing the importance of diversification and resilience to the forefront of discussions. To create a sustainable, resilient, and job-generating economy, the country is preparing for a transition to renewable energy. To meet this challenge, the Inter-American Development Bank and the government of Belize are working together to modernize technical and vocational education and training (TVET) so as to equip Belizeans with the skills demanded by a green economy. By harnessing the potential of TVET to bridge the skills gap and meet market demand, the changing training landscape in Belize is not only creating job opportunities, but also laying the foundation for a sustainable and prosperous future. The effort starts with the nations target of generating 85 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
