This issue of the Microenterprise Development Review examines why Latin American microenterprises are paying such high interest rates and getting such small loans for such short periods of time, in comparison to their North American counterparts. It also examines the evolving capital structure of microfinance institutions - whereas it used to be an industry where nongovernmental organizations dominated microfinance, it is now rapidly evolving into a subsector of the financial services industry.
