| dc.description.abstract | REVELA analyzes market expectations of growth and inflation in Latin America countries. The figures analyzed represent the results of surveys of private sector actors conducted by the central banks of the each country according to their own specific methodologies. They do not represent official projections by the IDB or any other official body. RES collects the results of these surveys from participating central banks on a monthly basis to produce a report and a set of illustrative graphs and tables. In this December issue, REVELA reports that although we are at the end of 2007, expectations of growth and inflation for this year continue to change. 2007 Growth expectations increased in eight countries and the ones for 2008 increased in five countries, principally in Costa Rica and Uruguay. The average expected growth rate is now 4.95% for 2008. Inflation expectations however continue to move up for most countries surveyed for both years 2007 and 2008. The expected average rate of inflation for 2008 for the countries surveyed rose from 6.78% to 7.27%. Indeed in no country surveyed did expectations for inflation for 2008 fall. |
