dc.description.abstractThe paper discuses the Brazilian scientific and technological framework, which has allowed the country to achieve outstanding advances in several fronts when compared to other developing countries. It focuses on the incentives for supporting firms' innovative activities, which include a wide range of programs. It was prepared for the IDB's 1st Hemispheric Meeting of the Science, Technology and Innovation Network held on April 16th-17th, 2007 at the IADB headquarters in Washington DC.
