dc.description.abstractThis presentation was commissioned by the Natural Disaster Network of the Regional Policy Dialogue for the 1st Hemispheric Meeting celebrated on November 15th and 16th, 2001. This presentation discusses the role of National Disaster Systems and country experiences in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Colombia and Nicaragua. Different national disaster strategies and successful national systems are detailed along with the role of finance ministries and financial resources.
