Intellectual property is a key element of the creative economy. This study analyzes certain aspects of intellectual property, such as copyright, trademarks or patents, and relates their function to the creative economy. Likewise, it presents some general challenges that intellectual property faces in the creative economy and analyzes in detail the most important ones in Latin America and the Caribbean. Finally, it presents good practices and recommendations that serve as a reference for countries in the region and across the globe.
