The IDB Group is committed to positioning the region as a nature powerhouse, aiming for a positive impact on biodiversity and improving the well-being of Latin America and the Caribbean people. The new Institutional Strategy: Transforming for Scale and Impact, treats biodiversity, natural capital, and climate action as vertical priorities and cross-cutting issues to be mainstreamed throughout the portfolio in diverse sectors and countries. The IDB Group Natural Capital and Biodiversity Mainstreaming Action Plan 2024-2025 (NCBMAP) responds to this institutional commitment and supports and enhances the implementation of the IDBG Climate Change Action Plan 2021-2025, the upcoming IDBG Disaster Risk Management Action Plan (2024-2025), and the Environmental and Social Policy Framework adopted in 2020. It also is consistent and aligns with the MDB Joint Statement on Nature, People, and Planet to mainstream natural capital and biodiversity signed in 2021. The objective of the IDB Group Natural Capital and Biodiversity Mainstreaming Action Plan is to mainstream biodiversity and natural capital within the IDB Groups operations in key areas where nature can support economic, social, and climate-smart development. The action plan should also help accelerate work by countries to achieve their nature-positive objectives.
