The Governance of Global Value Chains: Implications for State Action

This presentation discusses a series of measures and actions to help explain the impact of governance on the behavior of global value chains. The topics include: 1) Supplier-led industrial upgrading strategies; 2) New constraints by global suppliers in industries that have already globalized; and 3) The global value chains framework, as a typology of network governance forms. This presentation was prepared for the Latin America/Caribbean and Asia/Pacific Economics and Business Association (LAEBA)'s 2nd Annual Meeting, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 28th-29th, 2005.
