The analysis of cost and benefit regarding Disaster Risk Management (DRM) policy interventions is more important than ever as IDB countries face significant impacts due to increasing climate and disaster risks. Latin America and the Caribbean are considered the second most exposed region to disaster globally. Over 152 million people are affected by some 1,200 disaster events triggered by hazards such as floods, droughts, earthquakes, hurricanes, and volcanic activities over the 20 years.
Considering these trends, this report provides a framework and procedures for a methodology to assess the long-term macroeconomic/GDP contribution of public investments in disaster risk reduction.
