Date
Nov 2013
In the world today, there are more than 400 million native English speakers and probably at least three times as many who speak English as a second language. Communicating with precision and clarity can be daunting, particularly in an area like civil registration and identification, which is becoming increasingly important as a tool for strengthening institutions and democracies around the globe. Furthermore, identity and identification is being recognized as a factor in aid distribu- tion and sustainable development. This dictionary is an attempt to develop a common understanding of existing terminology and terms that have not been described anywhere else by combining them all in one document. To produce this technical dictionary, we were fortunate to enlist the support of a group of renowned experts and practitioners.
