Technical Notes
The main objective of this publication is to enable access to concepts and regulations to carry out an adequate management of the waste generated in health facilities in the region, by defining a normative and concept framework based on the international standards proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO). This to guarantee the adequate hygiene and safety of the workers and users of these establishments. The UIS has sought to create a practical guide to facilitate decisions making of field teams when preparing and executing health projects, through direct links to the specific regulations of each IDB borrowing countries, as well as to provide a guide for the creation of management plans through a waste management evaluation tool and practical examples, leading to an adequate economic evaluation of this component in Bank's health projects.
