Trinidad and Tobago is at a decisive juncture in its development trajectory. The country has an opportunity to solidify long-term economic resilience by broadening its sources of growth, enhancing productivity in non-energy sectors, and strengthening economic and social frameworks. This report, as part of the IDB Groups BIDEconomics series, identifies a strategic path forward by addressing institutional and regulatory barriers that constrain private sector participation and non-energy growth. To build a more diversified, resilient, and inclusive economy, actionable policy recommendations are proposed across three priority areas: economic transformation through decarbonization and fiscal reform; social guarantees aimed at strengthening citizen security, education, and health; and the development of resilient infrastructure to better manage essential services and disaster risks.
