AB  - Social exclusion is not new in Latin America--but it has changed notably. The faces of the excluded are not always easily recognizable anymore. Certainly they include members of traditionally stigmatized groups such as blacks, the indigenous and women. But they also include people who have been left on the sidelines as their societies speed along in the race to modern, globalized economies. This issue of IDEA delves into this concept of social exclusion by drawing from the IDB's Economic and Social Progress Report titled Outsiders? The Changing Patterns of Exclusion in Latin America and the Caribbean.
