abstract = {This study analyzes the role of Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) in designing, implementing, and mobilizing resources for Payment for Environmental Services (PES) schemes in Brazils Legal Amazon region. Developed through a partnership between the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Brazilian Development Association (ABDE), and SITAWI, the research combines economic, environmental, and social perspectives to highlight the potential of DFIs to strengthen sustainable development agendas and align financial instruments with biodiversity conservation and climate objectives. The study identifies key challenges including limited technical capacity, legal gaps, and valuation methodologies and proposes recommendations such as the development of pilot projects, continuous monitoring, and active stakeholder participation. Ultimately, DFIs are shown to play a strategic role in expanding PES mechanisms that promote inclusive, equitable, and context-adapted environmental conservation models.},
