abstract = {Amazonia, covering 40% of South America, is a region of immense ecological, cultural, and economic importance. It harbors unparalleled biodiversity, vital freshwater reserves, and communities whose ancestral knowledge is key to its preservation. However, Amazonia is under increasing threat from environmental degradation, social inequality, and economic vulnerability challenges that risk pushing the region beyond a critical ecological tipping point.

This publication presents a comprehensive analysis of Amazonia's current state, highlighting urgent challenges and transformative opportunities relating to economic development, livelihoods and conservation. At its core is Amazonia Forever, the IDBs flagship program designed to promote sustainable and inclusive development in the region. The program and this publication are built on five strategic pillars combating deforestation; bioeconomy and the creative economy; people; cities, connectivity and sustainable infrastructure; as well as sustainable low-carbon agriculture, livestock and forestry.

The report emphasizes the need for institutional strengthening, coordinated financing, and regional cooperation. It also underscores the role of innovation and data in enhancing policy effectiveness. Importantly, it calls for global collaboration, recognizing that preserving Amazonia is a shared responsibility.

Through diagnostics, evidence, and policy recommendations, this publication aims to guide collective action and inform a strategic vision for the region's future. It reaffirms the IDBs commitment to ensuring that Amazonia continues its journey towards prosperity and resilience.},
