abstract = {Trafficking in persons is a crime and a grave violation of human rights that affects millions of children, women, and men worldwide. This complex and multi-causal phenomenon exploits an individual's vulnerabilities and frequently arises in contexts marked by the presence of other criminal activities, illegal economies, and corruption. The Inter-American Development Bank and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime developed the Regional Action Guidelines for a Coordinated Response to Trafficking in Persons from the Security and Justice Sector, comprising five documents. This guide on international cooperation is structured into five sections. It begins by addressing the conceptual aspects of international cooperation, followed by guidance on cooperation under key approaches, an outline of the main challenges faced, and concludes with recommendations and promising practices for international cooperation in the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of cases, as well as in the provision of assistance and protection to survivors of trafficking in persons. Lastly, it includes a checklist highlighting key aspects to consider in relation to international cooperation.},
